Blackberry Time
My evening walk across the village recreation ground gave two treats today - the usual feel good factor after a walk and the euphoria of tasting my first blackberry of the season.
We have usually large and luscious ones growing in the garden hedge at home, but they are nowhere near ripening just yet.
Yet here in another hedgerow only three to four hundred yards away, they were ripening nicely, and some even ready to pick.
So I did. Picked the first blackberries of the year. Not to take home, you understand! But to sample on my evening walk. Not sufficient to count as one of my give a day fruits or veg.
But tasty enough. And I am sure I will be passing this way again in the days to come!
