Treating #ClubFoot at #IMPACTBangladesh
Our partners at IMPACT Bangladesh recently sent us this story of a young child with Club Foot (photographed above) who came through their programme in Chuadanga district:
“Bayezid was born in a small town in Jessore district. When he was born with twisted legs, his parents were very anxious... community members blamed Bayezid’s mother for Bayezid’s deformity. Stigmatized by the community and embarrassed by Bayezid’s twisted feet, his parents were ready to give up and his mother began blaming herself.
One day, a relative told Bayezid’s family about Impact Bangladesh’s community health centre in Chuadanga which is around 100 km away from Jessore. The family…decided to try it just once. The team of Ponseti trained doctors and staff at IMPACT Chuadanga hospital were able to successfully treat Bayezid’s feet and guide his parents through the treatment. When Bayezid’s parents noticed visible changes in Bayezid’s feet, his parents were encouraged to complete the treatment process.”
Bayezid has now finished his castings and tenotomy. He wears braces supplied by IMPACT Bangladesh and will be able to live and walk independently in the future.
