Black Darter

Isn't he beautiful? The day was quite pleasant and warm. However, the 'book' says in hot weather the insect points its abdomen directly at the sun in an effort to reduce heat. Well, you can see what this fellow is doing!!!
There were plen ty of damselflies on the wing too but I left the lochan after a short space of time as the flies were awful! Think it was the chlorine from the swimming pool on my skin attracting them. Must plaster on more moisturiser.
