HOW SOD'S LAW WORKS

I carefully cut off and keep all the spare buttons supplied with any garment I buy, and so I have a couple of boxes full of buttons. Last night I finally decided it was time to replace two that had fallen off, one each from a separate garment. Could I find either of the matching buttons? No I couldn't. So I had to go and buy some new ones today.
