Red Admiral at Worsbrough Mill
I collected Ann from her cancer support group meeting at The Limes (Barnsley Hospice), as she isn't driving at the moment. (She'd decided to skim duckweed from the surface of the pond the previous day and the next thing she knew she was surfacing up from the depths! It's deep but not very big and it would have been so easy to have hit her head on the surrounding stones - scary!) We decided to go for lunch and a short walk around Worsbrough reservoir and this newly emerged Red Admiral was happily posing for a portrait on the buddleia. My sister stayed with mum while we were gone.
Mum's (and our worse night). We've had night-sitters from Marie Curie for some nights to give us a chance to sleep, but unfortunately we missed out on this Friday night. We felt mum was in pain on the Friday evening and called the rapid response team at around 8pm. Unfortunately this is almost end of shift time and ours (and mum's experience) with the nurse sister who came was the worst we experienced. She moved her quickly before the extra morphine had chance to take effect and then she was off! (All our other experiences with this team, and we had many, were of a wonderful group of women who were just so dedicated.) We then ended up with three further visits through the night - the next at about 11pm and the last at around 6am.
