Drying off

After spending most of the day reading the agenda papers for the coming two day meeting, I went for a run to Western Springs Lake.

A karuhiruhi (Pied Shag) hopped out of the water onto the rock, and after a bit of balancing spread its wings. A few vigorous flaps were undertaken when I was too much on the side. Then, the karuhiruhi hung out its wings to dry.

Both S and I prefer this first photo, despite my problem of being so off centre I cut out the tip of the right wing. The blue eye ring and yellow facial skin are distinguishing features.
