Avro Vulcan XH558
A good day out at Blackpool Air Show. We were glad we had decided to go on the train as we heard that the roads were very congested. The Red Arrows were great although down to 8 aircraft and restricted by low cloud, the Spitfire always brings me out in goosebumps, but the highlight for me and many others was the Avro Vulcan XH558, in its last flying season. What a wonderful aircraft, so evocative of the Cold War era. It was all the more exciting because my friend Phil Davies was the AEO on board today.
I used to watch these beauties fly low over the village where I grew up in North Wales, several times a day.
