Injured

One of our staff rescued a hurt pukeko yesterday.  She brought in to her class today so the students could learn more about these birds - and about bird rescue.  That is mushed poultry food on its beak, which it was eating with real enthusiasm.  This slice is all I could really capture of it as it was back in its cage by the time I got down to meet and greet.

Last  month it was a new born goat she rescued from down a drainpipe. He had his day in the classroom too, and has now gone on to live a cushy life being doted on by another staff member.

Not too sure what will happen to the pukeko, but I do know that it is great for the kids to have these experiences.
