Princess Margaret Hospital

My only shot taken today and a rather hurried one at that. It was going to be in colour but have just realised Mono Monday theme is 'Work'.

A varied ranged of occupations are within these walls and not to forget the bus driver who was sitting in his cab hidden behind a tree.

Princess Margaret Hospital was opened on 31 August 1959 serving as a public hospital but today is now primarily used for older persons health care and mental health services. The hospital was named after Princess Margaret, sister of Queen Elizabeth II.

The complex was opened by the then Governor-General of New Zealand, Charles Lyttleton, 10th Viscount Cobham. At one point, it was thought that this would become the main hospital for Christchurch, but it was thought that it is too far away from the centre of the city.

A bitterly cold day, 7C, with much snow on the Port Hills in Christchurch and surrounding mountains in Canterbury and North Canterbury but no snow on 'flying's' doorstep - there is still time.
