Broken Wings
I found this Small Tortoiseshell in th middle of a path, struggling to do anything. Its wings are crumpled, which in some circumstances might mean that it was freshly emerged, but the markings seemed quite worn.
Whatever, I coaxed it off the busy path and found a more secluded sunny spot for it to do whatever it was going to do.
Earlier, three Small Coppers showed just in time to make the last day of the Big Butterfly Count, the first I'd seen since spring.
