A Garden of Lovely Surprises

In contrast to my own jungle of a garden, the garden at Mum's is a delight and a pleasure to help look after.  When Mum and Dad moved here eleven years ago, there were quite a few shrubs already planted.  As the property was only a couple of years old then, the garden was very immature and more planting was needed to get it established.  Dad spent ten years adding bulbs, plants and shrubs and tending to them with his exceptionally green fingers.  The thing I love about it is that as soon as one plant finishes blooming, something else unexpectedly bursts into bud.  I have no idea what this pretty flower is, but it's on a tall shrub in a corner of the garden which can be seen from the kitchen.  As soon as I noticed it, I had to go outside and take a photo.  It's like a gift from Dad that just keeps giving even after his passing.

PS:  Many thanks to SueSouth for identifying the gorgeous bloom as a hibiscus :-)
