One of the pine trees felled...

above the village of Caldbeck. It was a bit rainy today but we wanted to go for a decent walk. We thought that the high path that is now cleared of a mass of pines would be not too soggy underfoot. As we passed this tree lying by the track I was fascinated by the wrinkles in the bark around the area where the branches had been removed. I also was attracted by the colour of the cut that had been so brightened by the wet.
