...back in 2000, some grateful parents of one of her students bought her a gift certificate worth $10 for the dessert mecca of Portland, Papa Haydn's. Today, clearing out her old desk to donate it to Dharma Rain, she found that gift certificate. Papa Haydn's accepted that 15-year-old gift certificate, although the price of their desserts has more than doubled since 2000, so we had to supplement the gift certificate substantially. She had the lemon chiffon cake. I had Boccone Dolce, a meringue-whipped-cream-and-fruit combo you see in the foreground here. She sent an iPhone picture of the desserts to a friend.
