Weird Science

Tonight, Jack's Cub pack had an "Arc and Spark" night. This was put on by a couple of geeks. I say geeks in the nicest possible way. This gentleman (Noel), puts on quite a few of these nights for the cubs, from fun with electricity, water rockets, communications and ham radio, etc.

I mentioned to Noel how cool I thought Tesla coils and Jacobs ladders were. Big mistake. Noel proceeded to explain the intricacies of both and how he has made a Jacobs ladder out of car parts. Pleasingly, someone asked me to give them a hand carrying a table and I was able to make good my escape.

Jack loved the demonstration, and as long as he doesn't think he knows enough to start changing light switches, we'll be OK.
