Forth Bridge from South Queensferry Railway Path.
The First Sunday of the month and its Spokes Ride day. We went to Aberdour in Fife. Pretending its summer, it is a picnic ride. 10 people turn up. Some fairly regular riders are off on holiday, so I can't complain. Plus the forecast looks pretty bad. However, they have bee over exaggerating the amount of rain recently.
On the way out, the weather is cool and there is a light rain shower as we head north over the Forth Road Bridge.
Fortunately the rain stops quite quickly and the hill up to the centre of Inverkeithing warms us up. From there it is an easy ride to Aberdour. I get worried when another light shower appears. By the time we get there, the rain has stopped, and it is dry and feels warms. There's no sun, but 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
We have a picnic at Silversands beach, and chat. I go to get a coffee, and give in to a large piece of cake. It is very nice sitting outside for a change. The rest of the group join me.
After lunch we head back home. It gets brighter as we head south over the Forth Road Bridge. Not wanting to take the same route back in to Edinburgh, I head down to the South Queensferry railway path. Views of the bridges flicker like a film. I stop at the point where the Forth Bridge is nicely framed and take this picture.
From here, because it is quite early, we head down to Cramond Brig to get a drink at what used to be called the Cramond Brig Inn, but is now a restaurant specialising in steak.
A great ride, and it didn't rain as much as it could have. The main rain comes when I get home, and lock the bike away.
