Wide angle Wednesday: match box

A very long time ago I was gifted this lovely little box (circa 1989), I was totally overwhelmed by the generosity of the person who gave it to me (a patient) and completely perplexed (I was just training to be a nurse) as our code of conduct does not allow us to accept gifts.
I still remember this dilemma very vividly, if I said no thank you I would upset my patient, if I accepted it, I was breaking my professional code of conduct.
I sort advice from my tutors and my mentor at that time, all said that certain gifts can be accepted as the patient was obviously not attempting to gain favour, but to thank me for caring for them.
I cherish this box; it has had many jobs over the years, holding money, lipsticks, earrings, photos and now is keeping my matchsticks safe and dry.
I am still very privileged to be able to continue caring for folks and on occasion accept a gift; now it's mostly chocolate which is shared amongst the whole team.
Being very nostalgic today, I think JohnH1989's blip has set me off... where's that dram???
