London Day Five
We met Chamaeleo this morning for coffees and lunch and a news catch up. The Coffeeworks Project was rather busy, and we didn't want to perch beside a beer crate table again... So we wandered along Camden Passage for a few hundred yards and had a decent brew (oops, and a waffle) in Elk in the Woods. Very quiet Johnny Cash soundtrack was quite acceptable.
From there we wandered along and looked at the junk, sorry, nick-nacks for sale. Popped into the gorgeous old pub with wonderful windows. Of course, the authentic inside was spoiled by awful muzak (the Sex Pistols' version of 'My Way' anyone?) and games machines with flashing lights, though there was a nice chatty Aussie barman.
Back along for lunch at the Coffeeworks Project because there was a spare table - everywhere was busy. Awful loud shouty rap muzak started up...
When the waiter brought our lunch, I did my usual, 'Got any jazz?' Moments later, on came the Very Acceptable 'Buena Vista Social Club'...
Having caught up with Chamaeleo's news, we then took the 19 bus to Sloane Square and the Saatchi Gallery. I thought we should take in a bit of culture while we're here, but not sure if any culture actually was taken in... But it was, er, interesting. The best bit was the whole room with an oil floor. The ceiling lights and windows were reflected in the black oil, and it was very confusing at first to work out what you were looking at.
Back home on the top front seat of the bus (they're sooo busy, we've never managed that before). Actually, we've both got the sniffles and head colds coming. I think it's all the air conditioning that blasts out on buses whether it's needed or not (definitely not needed today). I had resort to wrapping my scarf round my head on the 50 minute journey. Which reminds me, I need to buy a wooly hat for the train trip home...
