Rainbows over Uig Sands
This is our last day in Uig on the Isle of Lewis. We made the most of it - and the lovely sunny weather - with a walk in the morning, lunch at the cafe, and a bike ride around the Valtos penisula in the afternoon.
Our walk took the same route that Mr hazelh followed last year when I was at the sheep dog trials. It included sightings of a pair of juvenile golden eagles, and some seals, plus a couple of archeological features that are not recorded on the OS map: a Viking watermill mistakenly noted as a cairn, and a broch in the middle of a loch that is not marked at all.
After dinner this evening there was a spectacular light show over the bay. I rushed outside with my camera to capture the double rainbow. This evening shot makes an interesting contrast with that from last Friday afternoon.
Exercise today: 3 hour walk, 11 mile cycle ride.
