Magna Carta: Law, Liberty, Legacy
This exhibition at the British Library closes on 1st September. It's only just down the road from the office so I took an hour to pop in and have a quick look round. Of the original only 3 clauses remain more of less the same in English law today. They relate to the rights of "free" men (of which there weren't very many in 1215), the freedom of the Church and various rights relating to the City of London. Interesting stuff. As it happens I also saw a copy in Salisbury Cathedral when I visited a few weeks ago.
