Temple of Heaven

This morning we visited the silk market in Beijing, which is basically an indoors market with lots of different shops. We had a lovely couple of hour wandering round and haggling with the owners. We then visited the Temple of Heaven which was beautiful. Apparently it is all made out of wood!! 

This evening we began our journey back to the UK but were caught in the worst storm in Beijing since the 1960s! There was some flash flooding that prevented us from leaving our hotel (one of the buses got stuck trying!) which made our arrival at the airport rather stressful. Fortunately because we had booked 140 of the seats the airline were willing to hold the flight for us. By some miracle, however, we all made it on to the flight on time!
