Fallen oak branch

This short branch fell off the oak tree this morning in the storms and on looking at it I can see an oak apple at the bottom of the image and an acorn at the top.   An oak apple is produced by a gall wasp of which there are over 30 varieties.   Inside the oak apple will be a wasp larva.
