flying ant day!

Grace and I were intrigued to see  a little line of ants with wings trooping out the ground, marching up to the top of a leaf and launching into flight. Suddenly there were thousands of the things burrowing out of my strawberry bed ( no wonder the strawberries are  doing so badly) and swarming around us. We retreated indoors to discover we had seen a Nuptial Flight. It was all over in about five minutes.
