The Pepper Pot, Fermain Bay

On the cliffs above Fermain bay stands a little structure known as 'the Pepper Pot', which I have blipped today. It looks like a 'folly' of some type. Trying to research it, it is said that it may have been a sentry box / lookout post linked to the Clarence battery at Fort George. You can enter it via a spiral passage and look out of the windows, lots of fun for children. However it is also said to have been a navigation marker, which I think is still the case as they keep it painted bright white and remove the vegetation on the seaward side of it.
