High above Lac Louvie
With the group now down to 7 all of similar capabilities I decided on a 6am start to give us the greatest chance of not just running ahead of the storm, but also enjoying what is, imho, both the hardest and the best day of the Haute Route. Patently the three high cols are not a place to be caught in a thunderstorm, but they are a place to once again see fledgling golden eagles, ibex and chamois.
We made good time to Prafleuri, which was good as by evening the first massive booming peals of thunder could be heard. Tomorrow could well be exciting.
