Pressing the flesh........

We all know who Barack Obama is..........

Well, this chap is New Zealand's 'wannabe' Obama - John Key. Currently leader of the opposition, by Saturday, hoping to be New Zealand's first National (centre-right) Prime Minister for 9 years.

As the election nears polling day the candidates are out in force drumming up support up and down the country. Today was Nelson's day for a whistle-stop visit. 15 minutes at one of Nelson's biggest industry employers then in to town to talk to a crowd of (my guess) no more than two or three hundred. His speech was 5 minutes then he pressed flesh for about 15 minutes!

What this tells me is that people are more easily swayed by character and association than by words or policies. Call me cynical if you must!
