Eating corn vs. commodity corn

This photo is an attempt to let you see the difference between the two. The smaller, lacier corn in front is sweet corn, ready to pick today. The taller, darker stalks in back are where the commodity corn is growing- not ready for harvest. It will eventually be sold to a grain elevator and shipped off for any one of a variety of purposes such as cattle feed, corn meal/oil or sold overseas.
