Showers

OK, so I am now officially narked at the lack of proactive maintenance of this house in the past.  E was having a shower but, when she'd finished, was surprised to still hear water falling...

..through the bedroom ceiling.

Assorted yells and bucket manoeuvres, and turning off at the mains, saved the ceiling of the room below the bedroom.  It will be nice when we're ahead in the race of improving the infrastructure faster than it collapses.

The cold water tank ballcock had come apart.

NFU Insurance's office-hours service is excellent.  Their out-of-hours service, which presumably they outsource, is pure carp.  

Why on Earth is "If you have an emergency..." the 4th option on the slowly spoken menu?   No, I am not going to pay £150 in advance of you probably finding me a plumber who might turn up in a 4-hour window.  We found our own emergency plumber, eventually.  Meanwhile, we moved into a guest room.
