Pumping Station Gas Engine

Built by the National Gas Engine Company and installed in 1909 to cope with the increase in rainwater surge. Today there was a demonstration of the gas pump working.   94 horsepower (70kw)   Internal combustion 4stroke.  Centrifugal pump.  Capacity pumping 184,000 gallons ( 836,500 litres) per hour. There are two of these pumps installed. Lots of children there today using some of the exhibits on display, including the calculator and old switchboard which I recently blipped. After a wander around I sat for a while with a cup of tea watching the river traffic. Too nice to stay indoors today.
