JUvenile Shoveller.
We awoke to pouring rain, so didn't hurry out of bed and spent the morning round the caravan, reading while Clickychick processed her pics.
In the afternoon we looked for indoor activities, a visit to a caravan dealers accessory shop and a gallery. By just before 5:00 the rain had stopped, the weather forecasters some times get things right! With the now dry weather we had an early meal and headed for Leighton Moss RSPB reserve. A place I love.
Our aim was to hang around the public hide and the Lower Hide hoping the Otters would appeared. While in the hide we obviously took what opportunities there were for photos. Summer isn't a good time for a wetland reserve as the ducks are all in eclipse. However the beak gave this juvenile Shoveller ( Anas clypeata).
The other icing on the cake wasn't the Otters, they didn't appear, it was the Great White Egret roosting among the Little Egrets.
