Good things come….

…. to those who wait.  Although, for a while today I had my doubts. 

I have been in and out many times during this very hot day, trying to get a decent insect shot or hummingbird, but both of those eluded me.  During my last attempt, at about 6:30 when the sunlight was almost gone, all the birds scattered in a flurry and this amazing hawk swooped in and landed high up in one of the Blue Spruces.  Fortunately, I had changed to the telephoto lens and the bird obligingly landed in the sunlight.

I am not sure what kind of hawk this is, so I am hopeful someone will identify it for me.
