Oxford Pride 2012
It was such a picturesque day that here's an unforgivable number of links here. Feel free to ignore any or all.
Just as the march assembled, the rainclouds drifted back. A sudden sun illuminated the assembled purple, red, green and orange banners, the sequinned dresses and the rainbow flags. Those who believe that God adjusts the weather for events he endorses couldn't doubt that he approved of Oxford Pride.
The Horns of Plenty, Oxford's street band in red and black, gathered to lead the march and next came a group that had asked to be at the front - a large contingent from the Thames Valley Gay Police Association. It was fantastic to have them marching not policing. Loads of local groups came along. Once we reached open space there was a chance to meet Peter Tatchell or the mayor, chat, campaign, grab a drink, watch the show, have another look, chill on the grass or catch up with a soul-mate.
There's a bit of me wishes we didn't still need Pride marches, and a bit of me that would be so sad to see this joyous, friendly, vibrant event disappear.
