Rotherham

a former steel town (where I was borne), lighter industries have largely replaced steel-making - over a 20 year period from the early 1970s.

This lengthy journey from home, with grandson, was to show him some roots - houses where I had spent my childhood years, my parents and grandparents' resting places, and the schools I had attended to misspend my youth.

A mix of reminiscence for me and profound discussion for him.  At 9yrs, he thanked me for the trip, and when asked how he might repay what I had done promptly replied  "by doing the same for my own grandchildren"  at which I praised him.
