The Wonderful World of Blipfoto

This snapshot taken on a blustery day at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway came about purely because of Blipfoto, with a couple of coincidences on the way. The group are family decendents of the first Chairman of the Isle of Wight Railway Company which was formed in 1862. The lady on the right who lives in Scotland is the mother of blipper http://www.blipfoto.com/TMLHereAndThere, who moved to New Zealand several years ago.

Having seen a blip of mine of Osborne house here on the Island TML asked if it would be possible for me to photograph some of the celebrations. The coincidence was that she did not know that I am a volunteer on the steam railway and that I would be on duty that very day. The second coincidence was that I do occasional photographic work for the railway and would be covering the train ride the family were taking after unveiling a plaque at the site of the old railway station in Cowes.

The organisers of the event gave the family the VIP treatment and I know they had a wonderful day and throughly enjoyed the trip in a beautifully restored saloon carriage part of a train pulled by our original locomotive Calbourne.

So thanks to Blipfoto I was able to meet this lovely group of people and at the same time forge a link to the other side of the world.
