Burning off
A great opportunity today to wave a match and get rid of huge piles of garden stuff that can't be easily composted and try to make a dent on all the fallen bark and branches that are constantly falling from the sky into our backyard.
I've pruned half the hydrangeas and 2 metre plus stems (was a heavy prune) and this along with other garden prunings kept me busy for the afternoon. As the dried hydrangea blooms blackened and burned, they were caught in the heat updraft and spiralled upwards like a swarm of grey butterflies.
