Like so many printers in York, this one is no more - it's now City Screen Cinema which I'm a member of. I had an interview back in the mid-1970s to be an apprentice compositor in this building but I got word that I'd been accepted elsewhere. As a result of a conversation yesterday, I discovered that the company that replaced the one I was apprenticed to is to close (then H Morley & Sons Ltd, the (then) oldest established print company in York founded in 1703). That means that the three companies I've worked for have all now closed. Still in print though of course, but working for myself.
