Gateway to the Lakes

Today's the day ......................... for the Auld Grey Town

This was the view today looking west across the valley of the River Kent to the town of Kendal with the shadowy peaks of the Lake District fells behind.

You can see why it has earned its nickname of the Auld Grey Town - many of the buildings in Kendal are Victorian and constructed in the local grey limestone.  Of course, there are also much older buildings, including Kendal Castle, which have often featured on blipfoto.

I've lived in Kendal now for nearly twenty-five years - the longest time I have lived anywhere.  I feel very much at home here ....................
