Thought this close up of a lion's head was interesting, several of these were scattered along the wall at the water edge of this bridge along the canal as we got off the Thames river cruise. Lions are themed a lot here. At the end of this bridge is a statue of a lion in white stone or marble. Also in various places are bronze statues of lions. They look magnificent!!

Presumably these lions faces with rings were used for canal or river boats to tie up??
