It's Wednesday!
I walked 11 miles today with the Haltwhistle walkers. Dave took us on a circular walk from Great Whittington. This is not an area we often visit and it provided quite a contrast from our regular landscape. We walked through several fields of crops as well as meeting suckler herds and a few sheep.
The oil seed rape and the wheat both looked more than ready to be cut so the landscape was pale brown/gold. I have to say that walking through scratchy, dirty oil seed rape above the height of my shoulders was not the high point of an otherwise lovely walk.
On the edge of one field I found a few late poppies and could not resist photographing them.
We stopped at Ryal for lunch. There is a whole series of Norman gravestones inside the village church but no explanation about them. There is next to nothing online either. See one in my extras. Does anyone know the significance of the shears?
Another lovely Wednesday with a bunch of lovely people.
