The Hardest Day

Albeit a day late, I have been remembering the 75th Anniversary of The Hardest Day when both the British and the German forces recorded their biggest losses in a single day in the Battle of Britain.

One of my favourite beers, Spitfire Bitter, is brewed in my mother's home town in Kent. Great childhood memories of that wonderful brewery smell - which I still enjoy today when I visit Tadcaster!

Slightly trivial blip maybe - but strong personal ties as my middle name is a reminder of my uncle, my Dad's older brother,  killed in a bomber during a sortie over Germany.
