The next stage

Popped into town in the morning for some messages, and to pick up a David Sedaris book which I had reserved at the library.

A very relaxing afternoon reading Lucy Worsley's book 'A Very British Murder' which is the choice for the library's reading group on Saturday.  There are two reading groups, a fiction one, and then "Saturday  Slaughters" which is usually crime fiction, but this is a non-fiction book about crime fiction, for a change!  I haven't been to this group before, but I have heard that it is good.

This is a Californian poppy, and I was surprised by the very vibrant colour.  I planted a lot of seeds and seedlings earlier in the summer, but very few survived the hens.
