Soda Fire

Wildfire in the Owyhee mountains of eastern Oregon, across the Snake River from Idaho. The fire began on August 10 and by August 15 had burned nearly 300,000 acres and was the largest fire burning in the U.S. At one point the fire was moving at 1.5 miles every 8 minutes. It was 95% contained by August 19.
