Salisbury Plain

Returning home from Exeter today, the sat nav suggested avoiding the usual M5/M4 motorway route in favour of the more direct A30/A303 route.  Although this is a shorter route, previous experience on this road has not proved favourable, as lengths of slow, single carriageway road can cause severe blockages in heavy holiday traffic.  However, the sat nav was clearly  aware of the traffic conditions, and it proved to be a reasonably fast and very pleasant journey home (only hitting traffic jams when we eventually reached the M25).  There was a short stretch of very slow moving traffic as we passed Stonehenge (not unusual) but we got through that quite quickly.

Just the other side, we stopped at a layby to buy some fresh strawberries and cherries from a roadside stall.  This was the view from the edge of the road.
