Egyptian Vulture
You know you are back in Oman when you see a Vulture against a blue sky up an electricity pole at nearly 3,000 feet! A new and extremely steep and tortuous route has been carved into the side of the Eastern Hajar mountain & of course we had to try and scale it, which we did do. Seeing this Vulture looking down on us made us more determined to get up it safe and sound. The summit is called the Salma plateau and is the home of many Omani farmers who tend their huge flocks of goats and sheep in the cooler conditions that are up there. At one point we were actually driving through the clouds. I don't think you can get a more different bird than from the British garden!
I've just read the bird report and many new species of birds have been spotted here and may make Oman their home.
