Roker 100 years ago

This picture shows what a popular holiday destination Sunderland was. Looking at this picture reminded me of how my Dad used to dress for the beach-ie normal everyday clothing. We have photos of him on the beach in Greece in long sleeves and long trousers. The photo is on a huge board on the side of the building you can see on the extreme right and nearest to you in the picture. Yes -exactly the same building is still there 100 years later.
