Saved by Mist (Story 2 Continued)
He stopped at the gate of the school. Through it he saw several of his classmates fending off one of the birds with a chair. It was frightfully ineffective, and each time the creature lashed out, it was only luck that saved any of them from being injured.
The boy thought of a quick plan and yelled out, "Misty, I'll distract it! You get everyone back inside!"
Misty was a little caught off guard by her friend's sudden appearance, but she managed to still hold her ground against the bird. "Keith!" she said. She was about to ask him what he was doing here, but she didn't have the time. "Alright, just don't get hurt," she finished.
Keith began chucking stones at the bird, but that was having no effect. He tried a different tactic; he opened the gate and ran towards the bird at top speed, irrationally hoping to scare it away. It worked with seagulls, didn't it?
Amazingly, the bird forgot about Keith's classmates, and turned its attention to Keith. It charged at him. Luckily, it did not have the time to take off, so it was running at a speed that Keith could easily match. He led it in circles as he knew that it had to turn a much greater degree than he did.
All of Keith's classmates had returned to the safety of inside the school. Tragically for Keith, the bird had achieved enough momentum to take flight, and now had the advantage when it came to speed. Keith had realised that he would have to reach indoors if he wanted to survive.
His classmates and teachers cheered him on as he made a mad rush for the door that they were keeping open. The bird had already started its dive bomb towards Keith. He was hardly metres away from the door, but the bird's talons were hardly inches away from his back.
Keith ducked and rolled forward, only just missing an agonising injury and most likely the end of his life. He fumbled towards the door, while the bird readied itself for another dive bomb. Keith was pulled inside abruptly by Misty and one of his teachers.
The bird had missed its opportunity, but it was beginning to make itself a new one. Everyone began racing towards the back of the building, when they saw that the bird was planning to crash through the glass door.
