The remarkable thing about the photo isn't the view, or the young love on display - it's the fact that I was there at all taking the photo. And I managed to get there without crying once. While wearing flip flops.
Afterwards, they rewarded me by letting me buy them lunch at the David Mellor design museum. Despite using his cutlery for over twenty years to cut up my dinner, I never knew he'd also designed the nation's traffic lights, bus shelters and pillar boxes. I bought an oyster shucker as a souvenir from the gift shop - every champagne socialist should have one.
