Lost Shoes
Well, our Fringe this year is not proving too successful... another failure to attend a show last night. Partly my fault, but partly the fault of the Fringe ticketing system.
We set off to our destination, which was Summerhall. I thought. Turns out it wasn't there... It always amazes me that JR never ever checks my 'arrangements', even after many years of mishaps.. We had further to go. We even jumped on a bus for one stop.
Got there just in time. Phew!
Asked for the tickets I'd bought online.
'We can't print tickets here, can you run along to the Pleasance to get them printed?'
Pardon? I can't run anywhere, let alone a couple of miles down the road. And back. In five minutes.
I had wrongly assumed I could pick up the tickets at the venue, which is standard practice. Actually, no - I had checked the places where the tickets could be picked up, and the Venue I thought we were going to (Summerhall) was listed.
We tried everything to be allowed in - pleading, stamping feet, crying, reasoning, swearing, bargaining, offering to go in as Press and write a review, violence...
I really don't know why they couldn't ring the Box Office and confirm the purchase. Or why they haven't got a better system after all these years. We had to give up and come home to Archie, Don Draper, and the half meal we'd suddenly realised we didn't have time for. And a strong G&T.
But we're off to the same show tonight! It's a solo show, and the actor is Bailey's mum's son-in-law, and she's arranged for complimentary tickets for tonight, his final show. Thanks J!
This morning a chap came to pick up our four old (but new) dining chairs, sold on Gumtree. Kerri and Luke arrived to take Archie out, and were given a Very Big Welcome by Archie.
These wee lost shoes have been sitting there all week on our walks. Archie finds them very interesting, and possibly chew-able. He always has a wee lustful look at them. I hope someone claims them soon.
