Window on Mont Blanc

A very exciting walk today using a map that was made in 1986! The path we were following is clearly no longer used. The result was spectacular views but a much longer time to get to the Rambert Hut which is closed this summer. That little detail was expected, but the numbers of people who had gone to climb the Grand Muveran today was incredible! It is the last day of the Swiss holidays, the weather has not been good and put snow down on the higher peaks so people had flocked to this peak. Unfortunately the rock on the route to the summit is very loose and we saw a number of rock falls happening high on the mountain. We decided to stay just above the hut where there was a herd of bouquetins/ibex, enjoying the sunshine.
