The Old Girl

How lucky were we then? First of all that they raised enough money from crowd funding to get the Vulcan at Dawlish Air Show. Trouble was with foul weather forecast for Saturday whether anything would fly was in great doubt Then we found it was going to clear for just long enough for a few planes to fly.
 
I don’t think this is the best shot of the afternoon but I think there’s something very evocative about the old girl disappearing into the clouds after an aerobatic turn.
 
The extra shots are the Vulcan again, a couple of the Typhoon Eurofighter, and a BAC Strikemaster.
 
We headed back along the coast path to Dawlish Warren and treated ourselves to an ice cream. Then the heavens opened. Rain with icy lumps in it.

It was awful to hear the terrible news of the Shoreham display which was the Vulcan's port of call before Dawlish
