The sewing machine is dead.............
.......... Long live the sewing machine.
I sew. Infrequently, sporadically, enthusiastically, when needs are great, when creativity strikes, when needs must.
Lately my skills have been used for Halloween costumes, dresses for Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady", for Liesel in "the Sound of Music" and a jacket for Jack (of beanstalk fame) in "Into the Woods".
At some point along the way I offered to make a coat for Elliott. It is a loose copy of the coat Benedict Cumberbatch wears in Sherlock. For...well, reasons, the coat is not entirely completely complete. Which made the demise of my American sewing machine rather inconvenient, as I promised I would finish it.
The old machine had decided it could only stitch backwards. I toyed briefly with completing the coat in that fashion, but sanity prevailed.
So I picked out a shiny new machine today. So far, so good .......... Watch this space...... The coat may appear!
